Community Immunity

Community Immunity, otherwise known as herd immunity refers to a community which is protected by diseases and illness through vaccinations. After receiving a vaccination one is not just protecting themselves but moreover the community as a whole. With the risk of one person not being infected with a disease (preventable by a vaccination), the entire communities risk goes down. The goal is to have an entire community vaccinated with required vaccinations so disease prevention can be achieved.

When referring to immunity there are only two ways a person can become immune. One is by becoming ill with the disease. The other one is to be vaccinated. The smarter and safer way to achieve immunity is through vaccinations. This is because of several reasons but some key ones are because then one is not infecting oneself, and the risk of affecting the ones in the surrounding community have the risk go down. This is community immunity! Help oneself and the community! Community immunity .jpg
